VaVa -VaVOOM

Heyhey!

Hope you're all having a lovely day and the week so far has not been dragging since the long BH weekend.  So I've been dying to share this with you all.  Some months ago I felt like the luckiest girl of them all as I had won one of those competitions through Instagram.  You know, the ones that everyone holds where you share their image and tag and hash-tag them to death hoping that you might win at least one in your lifetime?!

Well... How excited was I when I found out that I was the winner of the Tarantula Clothing competition!!!  Best Christmas present ever.  I could choose any item I wanted from their website.  Lucky girl indeed.

Now, choosing was a tough decision.  Just look at this array of beauties they have to offer...

Hard Working Dress - Working hard for your figure!

Continental Circle Skirt which comes in many a fabric options.

Wild Catsuit

Waterfall Dress and Chorus Girl Romper

Can you see how I had a hard time deciding?  Originally I had opted for the Wild Catsuit because I have always wanted one of theirs.  Have you seen photos of the lovely pastel coloured versions?  The gals look absolutely gorgeous in them and I wanted to look just like them!  But just as I was making my mind up Tarantula launched their new number.  Oh boy is it a stunner!

Introducing the VAVA-VAVOOM Catsuit!

I just received the package last week and hopefully I can show it off to you all very soon.  My VaVa-VaVoom is in the most beautiful sparkly electric blue.  Perfect for dancing in!  As soon as I have a photo of me wearing it out and about I'll be sure to make a post on here right away.

Until then, toodles,

Live by the Lake - Give Away

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all well.  I am rather excited about this post as it involves an amazing giveaway for you all.  Before I went on my vacation I was contacted by the people behind Live by the Lake who asked me whether I would like for my readers to win a pair of tickets to an outdoor showing of Singin' in the Rain?  Well of course I would!

Live by the Lake is a series of summer concerts set in sumptuous surroundings at Kenwood House.  The showing sounds pretty fabulous - the movie will be shown on an open-air big screen accompanied with the score performed live by The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra!  That's amazing in itself.  You will be able to bring along your own picnic to enjoy or you can even pre-order one from them ready for the evening.

Here are the details for entering...
  • You have to be a follower of mine :)
  • Unfortunately I have to make this give-away a UK only entrant as the showing is based in London.  If you do not live in London, please make sure you are able to make your own way to and from the venue for the showing on the day.
  • You can enter by leaving me a comment below that you are entering.
  • You can enter a 2nd time by posting about this competition and linking me on either your Twitter or Instagram with @dressingparlour
  • There will only be one winner chosen at random.
  • The prize - 1 pair of tickets to the show on 30th Aug 2013. No alternatives will be given.
  • Enter the competition by Monday 12th Aug 2013 23:59 GMT.
  • The winner will be announced later on in that week.

If you want to find out more about the various shows or even to pick up some tickets, these are the links to follow -  Facebook: facebook.com/LiveByTheLake | Twitter: @LiveByTheLake | Website: Live by the Lake

Good luck and I will pick the winner after the competition closes.  I look forward to picking a happy winner out of the hat :D

Take care,

Min Boudoir Magazine Feature

Well, this is rather exciting news to announce!  I have been keeping it for quite some months until the issue recently came out.  As the title suggests, I am indeed featured in the third edition of the Swedish Vintage Lifestyle/Pin-Up publication Min Boudoir this month!  You know the little book of Vintage Styling I was recently featured in and was helping the authors to promote?  Well, the magazine article is something to do with said book.  I had organised with Tifa (Editor in chief) a book give away through the magazine whilst I was organising the book launch.  Tifa had then ask for me to feature with the article.  Of course I really couldn't say no to that now could I?  ;)  Heh!  It so happened at the time Anna, Min Boudoir's photographer was visiting London and we had planned to shoot together.  As it goes, for some unknown reason(I blame modern technology) we couldn't get in touch with each other and it was Anna's last day in London.  Lucky me I happen to have my very good friend and photographer Jaana on hand.  We took some shots at the book launch and sent that across to Tifa.  Ta da, the job is done!

Issue three can now be purchased in stores across Sweden and also via their website for those living abroad. Issue one is also available but issue two is now sadly sold out.

My lovely Malin residing in Sweden has kindly picked up a copy for me and one for herself too.  Ready to be flicked through when I visit next month.  I cannot wait!  Of course I wanted to see the article and Malin so kindly took a photo for me.  The article was a lot bigger than I had expected, as well as my photograph.  A full page :D

I believe the caption says something along the lines of... "Model and blogger Miss Cherrylicious in Wearable Vintage Fashion where she speaks of her style."  Do correct me if I am wrong as the two times I Google translated it, it said different things.  Or maybe it's me typing it incorrectly?  Remember you can win yourself a copy of Wearable Vintage Fashion through the magazine so go and pick up a copy now!

This was just a quick update and a bit of exciting news from me.  Thank you to the lovely Tifa for asking me to be in an issue of Min Boudoir.  When I can I will most definitely take you up on the offer of modelling for your wonderful publication.

I will be back posting about my new humble abode very soon with a few snaps of my own boudoir!  Also of course my weekend at The Chap Olympiads.

Happy Friday 13th.  Night night,
Alison xx

Something of Interests...

You may well have read a not too distant post of mine about a blog sponsorship I had and the fun of trying on all their clothes in their Spitalfields store!  It so happens the lovely Tara from Collectif popped over an email to my inbox today with something rather exciting for everyone.  Collectif have been campaigning for 10'000 likes on their FB fan page and reached that hit today(in fact it's nearly a hundred above that as I type).  Congrats guys!  Once their goal was reached they would start to run a competition to give away 1000s of prizes which they have been collecting and hoarding up until this point from various amazing like-minded companies.

Not only is the give-away happening, but because they are so lovely and really do appreciate their fans and customers so much they have an extra special offer just for us to say a huge thank you for supporting their independent label.  Running from tomorrow noon onward...

Happy shopping!  Don't forget it's not too late to enter their give-away too.  Just go and like their fan page ;)

Have a good evening,
Alison xx

The Winner Is...

Around noon today as I was making my way back home to Surrey from staying at a friends after a night out it seemed the rest of London were heading central for the festivities in celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee.  As I happen to be working most of this extended holiday I have decided today to be a catchup day at home.  There has been so much happening in my life recently I think I need a breather rather than a crowded day in the big smoke.  Although I did happen to be wearing something quite patriotic with my red lips, nails and cardigan teamed with my favourite Freddies Dungaree Dolly's.  My hair was all coiffed and rolled still from the previous evening.  All I needed was a white blouse and a flag!

On to business of the day.  It's about time I picked the winner to my little give-away!

Into my Deco jewellery jar - the only alternative to pulling a name out of a hat!

Give them a good cocktail style shake!

Congratulations goes to Miss...

Please get in touch Ella!  You are the winner of a copy of Wearable Vintage Fashion.  Thank you to all who entered my first give-away.  My apologies again for not making this a worldwide competition.  I promise to do another give-away very soon and one that is open to all :)

Have a lovely long weekend everyone whatever you have planned.  I have been invited to a bbq on Monday evening so lets see what fun and frolics are installed!

Ps. This little post was sound-tracked by a bit of Swan Lake and Buddy Holly played on the black stuff.

It's the 100 Give-away!

Hello to you all on this wonderfully warm sunny day in Ol' Blighty.  It's enough to put a spring in anyone's step!

So when I reached a 100 followers recently I said I would come up with a suitable prize to do a give-away with.  Well, I thought long and hard to decide on something that would make my readers happy, an item they could use/find useful, worth entering for and is suited to all my readers.  That was some task; but I have finally got my gift.  I have been drumming on and on about this item and of course it now makes perfect sense to give it away.  It fits all the above mentioned specs(I hope) and it's definitely a good-un!

But firstly, let me tell you about or show you the prize... A copy of Wearable Vintage Fashion Book

La Look Book pages - 1950s

1920s

The Style pages - this here featuring Turrrbo Cherry

Here are the details...

  • You have to be a follower of mine :)
  • Unfortunately I have to make this give-away a UK only entrant* - the book is just too heavy (the last time I sent one it cost me £15 and this was only within Europe).  I'm sorry :(
  • You can enter by leaving me a comment below - a nice one please hehe.
  • You can enter a 2nd time by posting about this competition and linking me onto your own blog - remember to post a separate comment with your link to the post so I can see it.
  • You can enter a 3rd time by posting a link of this onto your facebook page, but remember I can only see it if your page is not private if we are not friends on there - again,  remember to post a separate comment with your link to the post below.
  • There will only be one winner chosen at random.
  • The prize - 1x copy of WVF book. No alternatives will be given.
  • Enter the competition by Monday 28th May 23:59 GMT
  • The winner will be announced later on in the week.
* This is unless you have a UK address I can send your prize to then feel free to enter ;)

This is my first give away and this is how I see others do it so hopefully it seems fair and correct.  I do apologise that I cannot extend this one to outside of the UK but I hope to do a future competition that will be available to all my followers.  To pick the winner, I will use one of those fancy number generator thingy-bobs or possibly the old fashioned name out of a hat way.

I would like to thank Jo, Clare and Vivals Publishings for involving me with this wonderful book.

I'm off to walk the doggies in the woods now.
Happy entering! xxx
