My new Freddies!

I love Freddies of Pinewood... but you already know that!

The new thing is I love my NEW Freddies which came through the post a few days ago :)
The best thing is they were on sale!  Great when you don't have much to spare.  Although I must add that Freddies prices are amazing and I will be building up my collection when I can.  I'm seriously thinking ahead about some winter shoes.  Maybe a pair of black leather biker boots?  Come wind, rain or snow I will be good!

Check these out before they are go go gone.
Not many sizes left now... not when they are £25.

Ton-Up Jeans

As described on their website - For ladies in the fast lane!  The new tighter style - a late 50s look.  They look great rolled up to make pedal pushers too!  These come with gold coloured stitching and have a yolk on the back.

I gave them a whirl yesterday.  I teamed it with this lovely halter top from Vivien of Holloway with a pair of ballet pumps and my beloved college bomber.  I wore them with a few small turn-ups so they were cropped which worked great.  Rockabilly Pin-Up made easy.

Next in my Freddies shopping basket will be...

Black Cord Dungarees - great for the coming winter me thinks!

What a fab show this looks!

The second of my discoveries... Gentlemen & Gangsters hailing from (by coincidence) Göteborg!  Now I really must catch them the next time I visit.  They don't seem to have a website but you can visit them on their Facebook page.  Great dancing music!

This Weekend - The Thames Festival

I have a fun packed weekend coming up which will be full of friends and activities!

I will start by telling you all about Sunday.  This weekend of 10th and 11th September will be The Thames Festival in London.  I shall be doing my bit on the 11th by helping my lovely friend Sophie of Kappuke-ki-Kidswear run her stall and having a little catch up at the same time.  As well as her lovely organic cotton and 100% Fair trade kids clothing for sale she will also be serving up her delicious cupcakes too.  Now I have tasted these various flavours of cupcakes many a times and can vouch for their yumminess!

One of many pieces in the Kappuke-ki-Kids range

Modelled  here by the cutesy that is Wednesday!

To add some edible goodness to entice you to join us...

Dark chocolate cakes soaked in absinthe with vanilla butter cream

White Russian cup cakes soaked with vodka schnaps and topped with vodka butter cream

Sophie and I met several years back in the burlesque scene when we were both performing at the first ever London Burlesque Festival which has now become huge.  Through these years we have worked together on projects, namely The Burlesque Brunch as well as attended events and partied together.  Sophie's talents is one which I admire and I am proud to call her my friend.  She will try her hands at anything and usually succeeds but will never get down about a failed project.  Instead choosing to move onto her next creation and making it better than ever!

Here are a few more examples of Sophie's talent.

Viv's Birthday Sale

Did anyone else visit Vivien of Holloway on the BH Monday for their 2nd Birthday sale?

This is the second time I have been to one of their 25% special day sales.  They had one back around May time and it was fab so I decided to venture up to Holloway for it again.  There was a small queue on arrival and the store was indeed packed.  Luckily I had a good idea what I wanted to pick up and also what size I needed.  I already had a look on their website; this keeps me under control (well, sort of).  I also wanted to pick up another Miss L Fire repro Lucite handbag.

I had my eye on these but unfortunately they didn't have the size I wanted :(

I love the floral on this fabric.  It's so fresh and really beautiful.

Rails and rails of lovely dresses!

I did manage to find this lovely Leopard Sarong Dress in my size though.
I also had my eye on this so yippee!

A few other pieces I would have liked to buy but again it was not available in my size.
As you can see I love my sarong dresses!

Rockabilly Chic!

Their cash desk is just to die for. I want one of those for all my accessories!

All in all I was really happy with my purchases even if I didn't go away with all my wants.  I would have had too much of a difficult time to choose between them all anyway.  I really wouldn't be able to afford them all at the same time.  I did get my other want of a second Miss L Fire repro Lucite Handbag and a few other accessories too!

Oh, I also picked up a white peasant top with lovely green ric rac trimming which I couldn't find a photo of to show you.  As soon as I get my Leopard Sarong dress taken in (unfortunately their sizes are too big but I love them too much not to buy) I will be sporting it before the weather gets too cold and taking a photo for you and the peasant top too.

This is the reason that I am hooked on the Sarong dresses!
I wore this lovely version over the summer and it made me feel gorgeous.
Just what a girl needs!

Nighty night,

Back in Front of the Lens - A shoot with Kate

Before I went on holiday to Sweden I had a photo shoot scheduled in with the lovely Kate Bloomfield.  This was mostly for a book which I shall make a feature in all about Vintage Style.  I am so excited and honoured to have been ask to be involved but it is still a work in progress so I cannot tell you too much about it yet.  I will be writing another post on this at a later date all about being published as I have something else coming up very soon too.

I met Kate some years ago when we were both on the set of a short film.  We didn't get to chat much at the time as we were all busy working.  A few months down the line Kate and I bumped into each other again at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes.  Kate was in the middle of organising an event to be held at 93 Feet East and ask if I would be involved.  I was still performing burlesque at the time and she wanted me to perform but to also book some other performers for her.  From there our friendship built and we have been involved with a number of projects since.

Here are the results of our shoot.  I won't spoil the surprise by showing you the image I sent out for the style book.  You will just have to wait and see.

You are able to view the images in a larger size if you click into them.  Unfortunately my page layout doesn't help with pillars on both sides.

Funny enough I am actually a dog person but I do love the image of me holding the porcelain cat standing in front of the cat wall.

It has been a while since I last did an actual shoot where I am the subject in question, mostly preferring to be working behind the scenes.  I hope you like them and that the publishers like what I sent them too.  xx

A-Bombers 16th Old Style Weekend... I miss you already!

You know when you are camping and sleeping in a tent and all you wish is that it doesn't rain during your stay?  Well... you know you also (me anyway) for some strange reason feel very safe when snuggled in your sleeping bag in your tent? This is definitely a good thing when sure enough the heavens opens up, and I mean really opens up on you on your last mornings camping.  The thud of every heavy raindrop hitting the roof of your tent and sliding its way down the (fingers X) waterproof material back to earth could be heard clearly for around three hours that morning.  It was beautiful and sad at the very same time.  Sad to leave all the fun behind, and beautiful for the time we have enjoyed together.  The downpour included, which cleared up nicely enough for me to venture out of my tent with wellingtons firmly on.

Half a cinnamon roll, some chocolate milk and a little packing up later we all headed up to the main site to grab a much needed coffee.  Or in my case a can of coke cola which was the best I'd ever tasted... or rather much needed maybe.

A sad looking empty dance/band tent.

The spaces where once Hot Rods and Hot Cars sat.
The place where Hot Guys and even Hotter Gals hung out ;)

The aftermath that was.

We sat and drunk and laughed at what was a wonderful weekend, with friends old and new.  We laughed even louder as we looked over the photographs captured from the last three days.  It was all last goodbyes and final packing up time as some of us headed our separate ways.

GoodbyeGoodbye

Funny that this should be my last photograph at The OSW site when it is the welcome sign that everyone sees first.

I already listen to JD McPherson a lot but now with added bonus that it will remind me of my very first OSW as they seem to also love him too!

To sum up my first visit to The A-Bombers Old Style Weekend...
Where have I been the last 16 years??

Of course I have not always been into this lifestyle, let alone thinking that one day I would be into motors.  Plus sixteen years is over half of my lifetime.  Still, I am happy to be growing up and moving in this direction where life seems so wonderful and glamorous even if it does only last for a long weekend at a time.  It's nice to be able to like different things and to know people who all like different things.  But nothing beats hanging out with your friends, meeting others along the way who love exactly the same things and appreciating it together!

I discovered these yummy cookies on my last visit and the lovely Malin had a big box of them waiting for me at her home sweet home.  A gorgeous goodness of oats partially dipped in chocolate when combined with a cuppa Earl Gray tea is heaven!

Malin and I at the warehouse Flea Markets on my last day.
Notice I'm sporting my Hotrod Hayride tee.

Here's a few of my purchases...

An original 50s wall coat hook/hanger

Another wonderful 7" record rack

A trio of Owls for my sister

Leaving Göteborg and it's powder blue and pink sky behind :(

I did also purchase the most gorgeous two piece original 1940s matching blouse and skirt which I would like to show you when I wear it out and about at some point.  It's too good to photograph just on a hanger.  You will see that the outfit fits as if it was made for me.  Perfect!

Silly me was having so much fun I forgot to buy myself an OSW t-shirt to remember my visit by.  I tried to email them but haven't had a response yet.  If anyone reading this can help me get one I would much appreciate it!

I leave you with this.
A little fun... a montage of my favourite pics at OSW in a heart shape.

Toodles for now... Alison xx
