A Collection of Outfits

Today I spent the afternoon playing "dress-ups" with my own wardrobe to help me with my packing for High Rock-A-Billy in Spain.  It's really not long now.  Only five days to go and I am counting!  I'm actually a little relieved to say that checking the weather again today the temperature seems to have dropped just a tad.  But still hot and sunny like a summer vacation should be.  I'm a little bit frightened of coming back with colour; which I will even with sunblock and parasol to hand as that always happens.  Even in England!  Oh well, at least it will be a good memory of a great time spent away :D

Anyway, looking at outfits and dresses has reminded me about posting some other outfits I have been sporting of late.  Ever since I started this blog I had the intention of doing outfit posts.  I know I do the occasional ones from attending events and going out but I wanted to show you my more dressed-down daily looks.  I think it's always nice to be dolled up but I find seeing peoples everyday style is also an inspiration too.

You will notice that nearly all the photos are self taken and I do apologise for that.  The reason being is that I feel a little embarrassed to keep asking my friends to take photographs of me.  I know they don't mind but I do.  I have however found it a little easier to build up a collection of my outfits since signing up to Twitter where I have been posting the odd ones.  These are outfits from the last couple of weeks when London has had the odd glorious days of sun.

I heart candy stripes!

An oddly sporty day.  I felt like a 50s gym girl!
I have some new Converse. It's been many years since I've had Cons on my
feet but only because they are leopard print! Worn with bobby socks of course.

My favourite Dungaree Dollys from Freddies of Pinewood
Freddies will also be at High Rockabilly which is all too tempting!

All my tattoos were on show that day.
The weather was hothothot!

It's hard to tell but I am wearing my Vivien of Holloway halterneck top
with some high-waisted denim shorts.

Bow tights love - showgirl style!

My lovely Paul & Joe dress with the prettiest print.

That concludes the outfits.  It seemed the right time to post this before I go away.  Who knows, the weather in England might have turned for the worst when I arrive back.  It would be silly to show such summery outfits then!

I may get time to write another post before I jet off but I can't promise... I only managed around 20% visual packing today.  Lots more to do!

Spain has got Me Thinking...

About bikinis and getting ready!  Is my bikini body perfected?  Haha not really, so to speak.  I'm one of those girls that just wing it.  I have always been naturally small and I don't recall "dieting" at any stage of my life so far.  I may take this for granted; which I think most people do if they are not entirely 'unhappy' with their body but I never over eat or indulge too much.  I believe that is the key.  Plus I hate that stuffed feeling!  Although I do have a terrible sweet tooth.  I really can't imagine anything would be enough to drive me to the gym that's for sure.  Maybe the odd dance class or yoga.  I think I run around enough on a daily basis.  As long as you are happy, it's your body.  That's what matters I guess.

Hmm... I never intended to become all serious...  Let's just go back to holiday and bikinis shall we?!  Even though I may have tens of bikinis already; this is a lot for someone who doesn't actually swim or like to sunbath.  It didn't stop me from having a browse.

Does this get you in the mood for a holiday or like me, you just like to collect pretty things?  I am literally counting down the days when I shall be rockin' out at High Rock-A-Billy!  Do you have plans for the end of summer?  Anyone else out there attending High?  It would be lovely to meet you :)

There is so much to think about... Packing.  What to pack!  Setting my hair to go to the airport in or not?  I need to buy more hair dye.  I need to buy other holiday essentials too.  Gosh, I really need to make a list before I panic!  Which shoes with which outfit?  What outfits?!  You know for my long weekend to Sweden for Old Style Weekend I managed to bring with me five handbags and five pairs of shoes (not including the wellies)!!

I sound stressed, but really I'm not.  I just like to be organised where possible.  A girl has to look her best right?  You never know who you might meet ;)

I'll keep you updated on my holiday prep.  Off to do more sit-ups.
Only kidding!  Toodles, Alison xxx

Ok, just one more...
This Latex Hearts set is super cute but definitely not made for holiday wear :P

Fetishes!

I must admit I have a bit of a shoe fetish... well, in handbags, pencil skirts and many many other things too but I do tend to get rather obsessed with certain style of items now and then.  Mules being one of them.  I think you either love them or hate them.  Or you can either pull them off or not (it's the way they make you walk).  I being petite and owning tiny feet helps me to totter around in them with ease without looking like I might topple over.  Haha!

Thinking back I do recall owning a pair of black faux leather mules in my teens.  My first grown-up 'womanly' pair were/are my beloved red leather vintage Bally's purchased maybe eight years ago from Peekaboo Vintage.  I use to wear them with a pair of super tight black jean.  It gave me the feeling of being Sandra-Dee gone bad!

The newest addition to my collection are these sweet smelling Vivienne Westwood and Melissa collaborations.  They also came in a lovely nude/pale pink but unfortunately I could not find them in my size.  Gorgeous as well as practical (in "Alison" terms) as they can be worn in the rain.  So they made it to Sweden with me.  Festival chic made easy.  Although Malin did laugh at me because, only I would wear such heels to a "festival".  I say you can wear heels anywhere as long as they are the right heels! :D

Here are a few others from my ever growing collection...

Vintage Gold Leather from Absolute Vintage near Brick Lane

Miranda from Miss L Fire - whom you all know I just adore!
These are actually in their sale right now. I'm tempted to purchase the pink too...

My beloved Vintage Bally's

Do you see where I get the idea from?
You're the one that I want... woo ooh ooh...

These were not originally mules but I removed the straps!

I'm sure I have more than these in mules but since a lot of my shoes are still living at my sisters home; out of sight, out of mind.  Bad.  I really need a shoe catalogue like the one I made whilst all my shoes were under one roof.  Now, it seems I need it even more.

I still have a wish list of course.  Even with all these choices to hand.  Always!

Classic Genie's in clear and gold

6 inchers! Appropriately named Domina in black patent leather

The nude versions

 Polly's with a bow = cute

Baby Pink heels with black lace from Elite

These heels remind me of Wanda from Cry Baby, one of my all time favourites.  Even though she didn't actually wear heeled mules she was such a bad-ass pin-up in that movie!  They would have looked amazing with her outfits.  Although I do also have a soft spot for wearing bobby socks too.

I'm a size 35.5 by the way for those who would like to send me a gift ;)

Do I have a shoe problem?  Ask my sister.

Flirting with Old Flames - 17th Old Style Weekend

Well yes, that I did do but shhh that's between you and I...  ;)

Now that I have your attention lets talk about the weekender that was A-Bombers 17th Old Style Weekend.  After last years frolics I had to go back for more, there was no doubt about it.  This time round, I had a shorter holiday and spent less days in Sweden but we went to OSW a day earlier for their pre-party.  I was happy to hear that an extra day there did not mean an extra day camping; we went to stay at Malin's parents for the evening which was lovely.  Bed, shower, time to get ready and for hair coiffing.

As we set off from Malin and Magnus' home a few hours after I landed it poured down with rain all the way to our destination.  Luckily the heavens were nice to us and stopped for just enough time so that we could set up the caravan and our little camp area along with M&M's friends.

I'd never set up a caravan before and was left sitting in the car...

The rainbow then appeared. It stretched out so far!

More and more people arrived and the drinking began... We went to seek the party.

My freshly dyed streak

The Teen Twisters

The next day... Friday.  It was so lovely and sunny.  In fact the whole time turned out like this in the end.  Bringing my wellies all the way there was a waste of time and luggage weight but it had to be done as I wore them last year.  We could only be happy about the sunshine!

I have to apologise but I did not take any photos of my Friday night outfit.  I'm sure I will come across some and will post them up.  I won't be rubbish and try to describe my dress to you.  It probably won't make any sense.  Although I did have great hair.  One of my best styled beehive bouffant to date!

Ike and the Capers

Round Up Boys

Saturday afternoon was The Hill Climb Race at Devils Peak.  It's complicated because it's not a race with each other but a race against your own time.  There are four classes; Hot Rods, Kustoms, Motorcycles and Stock American cars pre 1956.  You get to drive two times and you have to try and get an equal a time as possible.  The winner is the driver with the closet race time!  It's all just an excuse to stare at fancy motors really.

Travelling in style - Of course I was hairstylist for the weekend as always!

There I am looking silly and not paying attention.

Some lovely old skis on the roof there!

Here I am wearing some high-waisted denim shorts with a little cropped black top.

Birdy house included ;)

When I grow up I want a car this colour - coral pink suits me just fine :D

Someone has been to OSW a lot!

Hotdog?

Dust in yer face!

Saturday evening was for partying and there was a big group of us hanging out...

Magnus in the naughty booth

Meet Magnus and Magnus!

I hate holding the camera like this. It always makes me pull a funny face :/

See.  Haha

Boys-a-dancing... winkwink ;)

The Caezars also flew over to Sweden

It was basically the end of our night after The Caezars.  I was far too drunk and stopped drinking a couple of hours before.  Malin took some great pics of me being served drink from Magnus which I will show you at some point.  I was pretty good and managed to take off my make-up and take out my contact lenses each night.  Even sleeping in a tent.

Now, OSW isn't without its shopping.  Here are a couple of amazing bits that I picked up.  I cannot wait to get some lenses into my "new" glasses.  They look so fab on me.  I couldn't believe it!  I also picked up a gorgeous Lucite handbag.  My favourite style of all vintage handbags which you may know if you read my blog regularly.  I will definitely be using both of these at High Rock-a-billy in Spain next month.

Picked up a pair of cute dice bracelets too :D

I also spotted these dungarees. How cute are the matching kiddie versions!
I really like the brown pair.  I saw a guy in them and he looked dashing.

Well, that was a very very long photo blog.  Mind you, I did manage to make three post out of my trip last summer.  There is a lot to show, even without my outfits.  Here we are sadly leaving OSW for 2012.  I'm sure I will be back next year.  I may even try to make it to Hultsfreed Hayride next summer.  Gosh, so much to look forward to.

Sad Times :'(

Us gals looking gorgeous in our Freddies!

Spain's High Rock-A-Billy is my next big event and holiday rolled into one.  I am truly very excited. I am having issues just thinking about packing.  My luggage managed to be overweight going to Sweden for the weekend.  Although I do blame the wellies for that and the fact that the weather was very unpredictable and I had to pack for the cold and warmth.  Plus I was with Ryan Air which only allows 15kg.  Not as much headache with Spain as it's sure to be hothothot so lots of little pieces of clothing; no jumpers, plus Sharon and I are flying Easyjet with 20kg luggage allowance.  Just need to make sure to leave room for some shopping!

There'll be more posts before jetting off again as it's not for a few weeks yet.  Lots of things to write about no doubt!  Maybe a shoe post...

Kisses,
Alison xxx

Ps. Nearly forgot, Malin managed to get me last years OSW tee!  I was sooo happy as I had forgotten to pick one up at the time and was pretty damned about it.  I love my present.  Thank you Malin!  Love you lots ;)
